Alia Bhatt is all set to give her best in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic Gangubai Kathiawadi. But did you know that the actress is so impressed with the filmmaker that she has given the director a carte blanche. She apparently told Bhansali that, “Give me a role, any role, in Heera Mandi and I will do it for free”, according to a report by Bollywood Hungama.
However, Bhansali as expected refused to take up Alia’s offer. The Raazi actress will be the part of
Heera Mandi, and will be paid her market price. “It’s not like Amitabh Bachchan who refused to charge a penny for Black because the producers couldn’t afford to pay him his price. Netflix is the producer on Heera Mandi. Every actor is being paid his or her full price,” the tabloid quoted the source.
“There are seven episodes in Heera Mandi. Bhansali will direct the first episode. The rest of the 6 episodes will be directed by Vibhu Puri while Bhansali will supervise the project,” reveals the source.
Vibhu Puri has been with Sanjay Leela Bhansali for a long time. He assisted the filmmaker on Saawariya and also wrote the dialogues for his film Guzaarish starring Hrithik Roshan. Puri also directed the 2015 release Hawaizaada.
Meanwhile, Bhansali completes 25 years in the industry and Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone penned emotional posts for the filmmaker.
“Whenever you are directed by him you have a tremendous growth spurt as a performer. He challenges you, he pushes you to deliver a performance that’s visceral, spirited and comes from a place deep within you. He enriches and inspires you. He nurtures his actors and extracts their very best performances,” read an excerpt from Ranveer’s post.
