Netflix Pays Record Rs. 3.5 Crores for Vash Level 2 and Its Hindi Dubbed Version — Highest Ever for a Gujarati Film!

Netflix made headlines last week by releasing the Gujarati film Vash Level 2 along with its Hindi-dubbed version, Vash Vivash Level 2, on October 22. This move was notable not only because it’s rare for Netflix to acquire Gujarati films but also because the streaming giant paid a record-breaking Rs. 3.5 crores for the digital rights—a sum unprecedented for any Gujarati film on an OTT platform.

As per reports of the portal- Bollywood Hungama, “Netflix paid this exceptional amount because Vash Level 2 is a well-crafted film that received a strong response at the box office. The Hindi dubbed version also released in cinemas, helping it appeal beyond Gujarati-speaking audiences. Being a supernatural genre, it has global appeal, which further boosted Netflix’s interest.”

The source added, “The Vash series already enjoys popularity among moviegoers. Notably, the 2024 Hindi film Shaitaan, s tarring Ajay Devgn, R. Madhavan, and Jyothika, was a remake of the first Vash film from 2023, drawing curiosity for the sequel. Additionally, Vash recently won the Best Gujarati Feature Film and Best Supporting Actress awards at the 71st National Awards, with Janki Bodiwala reprising her role in Shaitaan and gaining recognition. These factors encouraged Netflix to break the mold and invest heavily in acquiring the rights.”

Another insider revealed,“Netflix’s deal spans 3½ years, with exclusive streaming rights for both versions for one year. After that, the makers can explore other platforms.”A prominent producer hailed this as a milestone for Gujarati cinema, saying, “Traditionally, Gujarati films earned less than a crore on digital viewership deals.

Netflix’s investment in Vash Level 2 is a game-changer.
