Did the National Anthem in Dangal made you stand up?

Dangal

The Aamir Khan starrer Dangal has simply been lapped up not just by the local audience but people all around the world. Aamir Khan’s performances as Mahavir Singh Phogat, along with the ones from the two Phogat daughters by both the younger and senior versions along with Sakshi Tanwar as his wife are being loved by one and all. However, many of the people among the audiences were seen with brickbats that went on to go hand in hand keeping them unhappy with the National Anthem in the film.

In fact many of the people in the audience catching up the movie found it to be a spoiler’s alert was a part of the film itself, leave alone before the screening, as has been ordered by the Supreme Court of India. The reasoning of the Supreme Court was quite unreasonable to say the least as according to them it will instill a sense of committed patriotism and nationalism in citizens. How will you get a patriotic feeling if you are going for a film like Great Grand Masti or even an erotica like Hate Story 3, but that’s a story for another day?

While watching Dangal, people weren’t sure what to make of it. Whether to stand or not to? That was the question. They took to Twitter to express their opinion wherein many of them were seen disagreeing about the same. Talking about the National Anthem, it has been a part and parcel of a couple of films in the past and unlike Dangal, those films didn’t even tackle with the theme of patriotism in any way. Remember the film starring Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol called Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham? Similarly in 2008 release Krazzy 4, where Arshad Warsi, Irrfan, Rajpal Yadav and Suresh Menon are being chased by goons, when they enter a mall where National Anthem is being played.

The leads are saved by the fact that the goon doesn’t stay still and had to face the wrath of general public. Now that can be called as the smart move on the parts of the makers. That’s how you embed a National Anthem in the movie. However, one thing that people clearly remember was the fact that no one in the theatre people watching the film Krazzy 4 with the national anthem standing.
