Music Composer Vipin Reshammiya, Father of Himesh Reshammiya, Passes Away at 87
Veteran music composer Vipin Reshammiya, the father of renowned composer and actor Himesh Reshammiya, passed away on September 18 in Mumbai at the age of 87. A highly respected figure in the music industry, Vipin played a pivotal role in mentoring his son and shaping Himesh’s successful career. His last rites are scheduled for September 19. Vipin had been suffering from breathing difficulties and was hospitalized in Mumbai prior to his passing. The final rites will take place in Juhu, with his mortal remains expected to be brought home shortly.
Vanitha Thapar, a close family friend, shared her heartfelt memories of Vipin with ETimes, reflecting on their strong bond. She stated, “He was at Kokilaben and passed away today at 8:30 pm. I am a family friend, more like family. I began calling him papa when he was making TV serials. Later, he became a music director, and Himesh followed in his footsteps. We have always shared a very close connection. Anup Singh, the numerologist, and I were also very close to him.”Despite his talent as a composer, Vipin Reshammiya opted not to pursue a full-time career in music, choosing instead to focus on nurturing Himesh’s skills. While he earned recognition for his contributions to television shows, his primary dedication was always to support Himesh’s artistic development.
Vipin frequently expressed pride in Himesh’s musical abilities, which were evident from an early age.For those unfamiliar with Vipin’s work, he produced films such as The Xposé (2014) and Teraa Surroor (2016), both featuring Himesh. He also composed music for the unreleased film Insaaf Ka Suraj (1990). Himesh once revealed that a planned collaboration between his father and Salman Khan ultimately paved the way for his own breakthrough as a music director in the 1998 film Jab Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, which starred Salman Khan and Kajol.
