The special court established up under the SC/ST Act in Hisar reportedly dismissed Munmun Dutta of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’s plea. According to reports, the actress arrived in Hansi, Haryana on Monday after the Punjab and Haryana High Court issued an order, and appeared in front of investigating officer DSP Vinod Shankar. In one of her YouTube videos, she made comments on Dalit society that did not sit well with netizens.
Munmun made a video on her YouTube channel in 2021 in which she used a casteist term, which offended a few people who felt it was disrespectful to the Dalit community. The TMKOC actress had previously been arrested and interrogated for four hours over her remark.
Munmun Dutta used a casteist slur in a video she posted on YouTube, saying, “I am coming on youtube, and I don’t want to seem like a bhangi.” Netizens began using the hashtag #ArrestMunmunDutta as soon as the video went public, accusing her of using the word ‘Bhangi’ in her video.
Munmun Dutta’s lawyer Rajat Kalsan recently disclosed that the Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor’s anticipatory bail application was denied by a special court established under the SC/ST Act in Hisar. It should be underlined that the actress’ arrest is more likely now that Judge Ajay Teotia has rejected her petition.
Not just in Hisar, Haryana, but also in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh, where the complaint was made for her arrest. Munmun then took her case to the High Court, pleading for the arrest to be halted. But, when nothing came of it, the actress’ lawyer took the case to a special court in Hisar under the SC/ST Act.
Following the event, the Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actress apologised to her followers and issued a touching statement pleading for forgiveness.
