Chinmayi Sripada commonly known as Chinmayi is a known playback singer who is more active in regional (south Indian and Marathi) films. Besides she is also a voice actor, TV presenter and RJ and is the founder & CEO of her own company called Blue Elephant that deals with translation services. She was born on 10th September 1984 in a family of music. Her paternal grandfather happens to be Padmabhushan awardee – Sangita Kalanidhi who was raised by her mother T Padmasini who is a singer and musicologist who also taught Indian and Carnatic music. She was born in Chennai and went to school called Children’s Garden School till she finished her 10th birthday.
She then went to Hindu Senior Secondary School, Indira Nagar and then went on to do her school education via home study modules wherein she had partly completed her home schooled after the 10th class. She then got her CCRT Scholarship for the Young Talent for Carnatic Music (YTCM) from Indian Government. As music was in her blood, she chose to tread this path and went on to win the gold medal from AIR Ghazals in 2000 along with getting Silver Medal for Hindustani Classical Music in the year 2002. She then learnt German language at the Max Mueller Bhavan in Chennai and then finished her certifications in Wed Design from SSI and NIIT. She also worked for Sify and www.studentconcepts .org followed by doing her BA in Psychology from Madras University.
Chinmayi Sripada also learnt dancing and singing and enjoyed speaking different language hence she can speak more than six languages, including Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Malayalam, English and German fluently. Talking about career, let’s start with playback singing. She participated & won the singing competition of Sun TV and started her singing from this place wherein she got AR Rahman for the music composition. Her first song with Rahman was Oru Dheivam Thanta Poove from the movie called Kannathil Muthamittal. Soon she got the chance to sing in a number of language including Tamil, Tulu, Telugu & Malyalam. She then made her B Town debut with the Aamir Khan starrer film Mangal Pandey: The Rising with the song called Holi Re and later got the songs from Guru and Mayya.
Some of her popular songs include Sahan, Oru Dheivam Thantha Poove, Sara Sara, Vaarayo Vaarayo, Asku Laska and Kilimanjaro. So far, she has sung more than thousand songs in six Indian languages. Besides, she is also a voice actor, which started with a Tamil movie called Silluni.. Oru Kadhal in the year 2006 for actress Bhumika Chawla. Since then has dubbed in a number of Tamil movies including Sameera Reddy, Tamannah Bhatia, Trisha Krishnan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. She is also a TV and radio presenter. She appeared in Star Vijay as a TV presenter in 2006. Soon she turned RJ on Aahaa FM 91.9 in Chennai.
As said, Chinmayi Sripada is also an entrepreneur and owns her own translational services company, which she founded in 2005. She has been awarded from SAARC Chamber for Women Entrepreneurship for Excellence in her niche area. She was also named as the first ever women from south India by Fortune and US State Department. In her young age, she has bagged a number of awards for the categories of best singer from a number of groups and platforms. She is a versatile person, who has carved her niche in different domain. Her recent singing went to the films like the Marathi movie Sairat, 24, A..Aa, Policeodu and Brahmotsavam.
