MS Dhoni to make his OTT debut with Atharva: The Origin, reveals first glimpse from the series
Former Indian cricket captain MS Dhoni on Wednesday exposed the first look of his graphic novel Atharva: The Origin. It is established in the book by the author Ramesh Thamilmani. Touted as the mythological sci-fi web series, it is supported by MS D Entertainment. In this, Mahi is seen as a mythical warrior.
In the first look clip of ‘Atharva’, we will be able to see Dhoni in an animated avatar on the battlefield. Dhoni’s warrior character is fighting against a demon army. MS Dhoni, who retired from international cricket in 2019, seems to be looking for new avenues and the Atharva web series is one of them. Hes wife Sakshi Singh Dhoni, Managing Director of Dhoni Entertainment, spoke on the making of the series. He called it a thrilling series.
Mahis’s wife Sakshi Singh Dhoni has previously spoken about producing the series in a statement. “The book is a mythological sci-fi that explores the journey of a mysterious Aghori who has been captured at a high-tech facility. The secrets revealed by this Aghori could alter the myths of the ancient, beliefs of the existing and course of the forthcoming. We would like to ensure that we execute all the aspects of this universe and bring out every character and story to the screen, with as much precision as possible. Web-series fit our purpose better than adapting it into a feature film,” she had said.
Former cricketer shared the first look teaser of his upcoming mythological sci-fi web series on his Facebook handle. He wrote, “Happy to announce my new avatar…. Atharv. He captioned the post. This is not MS D’s first association with films or the entertainment industry. Mahi’s biopic – MS Dhoni: The Untold Story was released in 2016 and was a huge hit. His fans will surely be waiting for it and like his biopic, the graphic novel will also be a huge hit.
Mahis Entertainment Media Company produced a documentary series for Disney+ Hotstar in 2019 with its first project – The Lion of the Lion. This time, MS is entering the world of graphic novels, where he plays a character. It will be interesting to see how this graphic novel takes shape.
