Mr And Mrs Mahi Makers Recreate ‘Say Shava Shava’ from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham with Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor

The dry spell in Bollywood may see a temporary pause with the release of Srikanth this week, featuring Rajkummar Rao, Jyotika, Alaya F, and Sharad Kelkar. The movie-watching season is set to kick off in full force with the arrival of Mr And Mrs Mahi on May 31. Bollywood Hungama recently reported that the trailer for the film is on its way. Now, we have an interesting development about this Rajkummar Rao and Janhvi Kapoor starrer. According to a source, the makers of the film have recreated the beloved song ‘Say Shava Shava’ from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001) for a specific scene in Mr And Mrs Mahi.

However, the recreation is not for the entire song but only for the stanza that begins with the line ‘Dekho Tainu Pehli Pehli Baar Ve’. This rendition will play during an important moment between the lead actors, Rajkummar and Janhvi. It’s worth noting that Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham was directed by Karan Johar, who is also producing Mr And Mrs Mahi in collaboration with Zee Studios. The source further added that while the song is currently in the background, it remains to be seen if it will make it to the final cut. Sometimes, songs relegated to the background might undergo changes. However, the song ‘Dekha Tainu’ fits well within the narrative, and the makers will make the final call in this regard. The original version of ‘Say Shava Shava’ is a popular dance number featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Rani Mukerji, Kajol, and Jaya Bachchan. It was composed by the late Aadesh Shrivastava.

Directed by Sharan Sharma, whose directorial debut was Gunjan Saxena – The Kargil Girl (2020), Mr And Mrs Mahi is generating anticipation. Bollywood Hungama first broke the news in November 2021 that Sharan’s next film would be titled Mr And Mrs Mahi. In January 2022, the makers released pictures of Janhvi Kapoor prepping with Dinesh Karthik for her role as a cricketer. Recently, Janhvi Kapoor caught attention when she appeared at an IPL match wearing a jersey that mentioned ‘Mahi’, as part of the film’s promotions.
