Sonu Kakkar 1Sonu Kakkar is a popular Indian playback singer, who hails from Rishikesh (Uttrakhand) where she was born and brought up. Her schooling was carried out in New Delhi, where her parents shifted when she was barely of five years of age. There she also started learning music and later shifted with Mumbai with her family. During her stay in Mumbai, she kept on participating in a number of singing competition and it this place only when a popular music director called Sandeep Chowta was seen spotting her, who gave her first break in playback singing in the song called Babuji Zara Dheere Chalo!.

It was an item song, which was big hit and gave Sonu a good opening in Bollywood. She is among the versatile singers in Bollywood, who has come a long way and that too in just a shorter span of life. One of her speciality is the Sufi songs, which has helped her to embark with some of the best Sufi songs like Yaadan Teri Yaad from the album known as Euphoric Sufis wherein even legends like Abida Parveen was also the part of the same.

She has even worked with the veteran Music Director AR Rahman in the project called Godfather, her song Jeena from the movie called Mukhbir was a big hit, while her latest album released is Don’t Touch Me. Besides, Sonu has even sang a number of classical songs as well, which include the movie Boom from Kaizad Gustad. The song stole the heart of many and turned out to be among the top in the chartbuster list. Some of the popular movies for which she has given playback singing include Corporate, Sandwich, Kis Kis Ki Kismet, Delhi Heights, Hickhi, Revati, Sheesha, etc.
