When Sridevi disclosed the reason behind rejecting Baahubali

SS Rajamouli, a South Indian filmmaker, is currently the buzz of the town with his latest film RRR, starring Ram Charan, Jr NTR, Alia Bhatt, and Ajay Devgn. The film has already been labeled a huge success due to the favorable reviews it has received from reviewers and audiences.

Although the filmmaker’s latest magnum opus has caused some controversy in the entertainment business, his 2015 film Baahubali continues to hold a special place in our hearts. Did you know that Rajamouli and Bollywood’s Hawa Hawai girl Sridevi had an ugly fight about the Prabhas film?

The late actress Sridevi was offered the role of Sivagami in SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali for the first time. However, for various reasons, the actress turned down the part, which was later filled by south star Ramya Krishnan. Well, it seems that the filmmaker did not take the rejection well, and he eventually attacked by making derogatory remarks about the actress.

SS Rajamouli stated that she turned down the role of Sivagami in Baahubali because of her starry standards and financial expectations. Sridevi and her husband Boney Kapoor were both heartbroken and enraged by the filmmaker’s statement. Later, during an interview with DNA, the actress chose to share about the situation. She said, “First of all, I can’t believe he (Rajamouli) would talk like that. Secondly, I am not the kind to make any kind of demands. Whatever happened with Baahubali is in the past. Why are we talking about it now? There are so many roles that I’ve turned down in the past. I think it’s highly impolite to talk about the films you don’t do.”

Later, SS Rajamouli realized his error in speaking up about his and Sridevi’s spat out in front of the public. The Baahubali director then said that people were twisting his statements and that he had a lot of love for the iconic actress. During a conversation, the director stated, “As for whose version to believe, I guess it is for people to decide. But one thing is for sure. I shouldn’t have discussed the details on a public platform. That’s a mistake. And I regret it.”
