Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi shot ‘Merry Christmas’ simultaneously in Hindi and Tamil
The news of Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi’s upcoming film ‘Merry Christmas’ immediately piqued people’s interest. There are several reasons why fans are eager about this impending production, the first of which is the main duo. ‘Merry Christmas’ is the first time both Katrina and Vijay Sethupathi are working together. The second reason is that the film is being directed by Sriram Raghvan, who is recognized for directing films with unusual subjects. His distinct filmmaking skills can be seen in Johnny Gaddar (2007), Badlapur (2015), and Andhadhun (2018).
Now at the recent interview with Bhardwaj Ranjan, Shriram Raghvan spilled some beans about his upcoming project. The filmmaker revealed that in order to reach out to speakers of both Hindi and Tamil, he shot each scene twice in two different languages. “Because Vijay is there in the movie, we decided to make a Tamil version of the film also. And it’s a proper Tamil version”, revealed Sriram.
The filmmaker also revealed that both the Hindi and Tamil versions of the film will feature different supporting actors. “The main actors in both versions are Katrina and Vijay Sethupathi, but the supporting actors are played by different actors.” The same character played by Vinay Pathank in the Hindi version is played by Raadhika Sarathkumar in the Tamil version. So both films are the same, but they are also different in their own way,” Sriram noted.
‘Merry Christmas’ was first announced in December 2021, and it was originally supposed to be released in theatres on December 23, 2022, however the makers opted to postpone the release due to delays in filming and post-production. The film is expected to release in December 2023 for the occasion of Christmas.
