Kalki Koechlin starrer’Margarita With A Straw’ gets the best feature film award at Washington fest
The Kalki Koechlin starrer film Margarita With A Straw might have got a minimal response back at home, however, the film was applauded over the global location. The movie showcasing Kalki in a role of disabled girl was able to impress the jury based in Washington DC International Film Festival, who in turn declared the film as one of the best movies in the said film festival. The performance of Kalki in the character of a cerebral palsy patient was applauded by one and all.
Sonali Bose, the director of the film went ahead to share this news on the microblogging site – Twitter announcing this feat, which was even shared by Kalki as well. Indeed it’s an important feat for both them and of course the team behind bringing out this incredible movie. The film has been participating before its release in India, which include the DC Film Festival and in the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
The other film festival wherein the movie was screened include the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia, BFI London Film Festival, Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) and the Santa Barbara International Film Festival. The movie revolves around the life of a girl suffering from disability. It is the struggle of the girl called Laila played by Kalki with normal activities in her life. The movie also has Revathi and Sayani Gupta in the other important roles.
