Filmmakers are set to enter the digital world with his web series ‘Scoop’. Inspired by the biographical book from Jigna Vora, ‘Behind The Bars In Byculla: My Days in Prison’ the series will have Karishma Tanna in the lead.
The actress was last seen in MX Player’s web series ‘Bullets’. “Karishma Tanna is playing Jigna in the series and the shooting for the character drama has already begun. Karishma who has been on a break for her wedding will soon join the shoot,” a source was quoted as saying.
Scoop will be a character drama that will outline the journey of Jagruti Pathak, an ambitious crime journalist. When she is charged with the heinous murder of a fellow journalist, Jaideb Sen, and herself up in a prison cell with individuals she formerly reported about, her world comes crumbling down. A reputed sharp shooter, a shady bookie, and the infamous Chhota Rajan are among those charged. While she awaits a trial, the truth is quietly buried.
Speaking about his upcoming show, Hansal Mehta said, “Reading Jigna Vora’s book – ‘Behind The Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison’ piqued my interest and compelled me to bring this story alive on screen. We’ve already begun filming and I’m excited about this story being my first collaboration with Netflix. Great stories can only benefit from a service that can make it reach a wider set of audience, ‘Scoop’ is that kind of a story and with Netflix, we will be able to take it to audiences across the globe. With my co-creator Mrunmayee Lagoo and producers Matchbox Shots, I am seeking to delve deep into a tale of our mediatised times and the human cost of stories that we consume on a daily basis.”
