Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Emergency’ Postponed; Release Date Pushed from September 6

The Kangana Ranaut-starrer Emergency has been making headlines for the past week due to various controversies surrounding the film. In a surprising turn of events, the makers have announced the postponement of the film’s release, meaning it will no longer hit theaters on September 6 as originally planned. This delay appears to be linked to ongoing issues related to the film. On August 31, Bollywood Hungama reported that the Punjab and Haryana High Court held a hearing regarding a case filed by Gurinder Singh and Jagmohan Singh, residents of Mohali. They requested the revocation of the censor certificate granted to Emergency by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and insisted that the film undergo review by respected Sikh personalities prior to its theatrical release.
Additionally, Bollywood Hungama noted that while the CBFC has suggested cuts to the film, its certification remains under consideration. According to Hindustan Times, additional solicitor general of India, Satya Pal Jain, representing the CBFC, informed the court, “The certification has not yet been granted. It will be issued according to the rules and regulations applicable to this case. If anyone has grievances, they can submit them to the board.” It remains uncertain when Emergency will eventually be released and whether its premiere will be delayed by a week or more.
All thanks to the controversies, which have sparked significant public interest and debate, raising questions about creative expression and the responsibilities of filmmakers. Many are now speculating whether the film will be rescheduled for later this year or if further adjustments will be made in response to the legal challenges. As the situation unfolds, fans and critics alike are eagerly awaiting updates, hoping for a resolution that will allow Emergency to be released with minimal restrictions. It remains uncertain when Emergency will eventually be released and whether its premiere will be delayed by a week or more.
