Kalki 2989 AD Set for Global Premiere on Prime Video on August 22

Prime Video has officially announced that the Telugu action-adventure film Kalki 2989 AD will premiere globally on August 22, 2024. Directed by Nag Ashwin and produced by Priyanka Dutt, C. Aswani Dutt, and Swapna Dutt under Vyjayanthi Movies, the film stars an impressive lineup that includes Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani. Following a successful theatrical run, it will be available for streaming in its original Telugu, with dubs in Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam, along with English subtitles for Prime members in India and over 240 countries and territories.

Kalki 2989 AD has captured audiences’ attention with its depiction of a post-apocalyptic future, resonating deeply and contributing to its box office success, according to Manish Menghani, Director of Content Licensing at Prime Video India.

Prabhas, who delivers a powerful performance as Bhairava, a bounty hunter, expressed his excitement: “Working on Kalki 2989 AD with director Naga and a stellar cast has been exhilarating. The film pushes storytelling boundaries by blending mythology with futuristic themes while exploring the complexities of human nature. After the overwhelming love it received in theaters, I can’t wait for its premiere on Prime Video, and I hope viewers enjoy it as much as we enjoyed creating it.”

Producer C. Ashwani Dutt remarked on the film’s global premiere, stating, “After a successful box office run and an enthusiastic response from audiences of all ages, Vyjayanthi Movies is delighted to celebrate its 50th year with Kalki 2989 AD. We are excited for viewers worldwide to experience this visually stunning narrative.”

Director Nag Ashwin added, “With Kalki 2989 AD, I aimed to create a groundbreaking cinematic experience that shares our cultural mythology globally. The film’s success signifies its universal appeal.” Kamal Haasan, who plays Supreme Yaskin, reflected on the project’s significance, noting that it represents a leap forward for Indian cinema. He eagerly anticipates the film’s streaming premiere, which will introduce it to new audiences around the world.
