Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor Begin Three-Week Shoot for Romantic Comedy in Mumbai: Report
Actor Junaid Khan, son of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, is set to make his debut this year. Following the announcement of his historical drama Maharaj releasing on Netflix on June 14, the actor has reportedly begun filming for his next project, an untitled romantic comedy. Directed by Advait Chandan, known for his work on Secret Superstar and Laal Singh Chaddha, the film will mark Junaid’s entry into the rom-com genre and will see him paired opposite Khushi Kapoor, daughter of the late actress Sridevi and producer Boney Kapoor. According to a report in Mid-day, sources have revealed that shooting for the film commenced on Monday in Mira Road, Mumbai. The start date was reportedly moved earlier to accommodate Junaid’s promotional commitments for Maharaj next month.
The film is said to be a remake of the 2022 Tamil hit Love Today, which was both directed by and starred Pradeep Ranganathan. The Hindi adaptation is being produced by Shristi Behl and Phantom Films, the banner behind critically acclaimed movies like Queen, Masaan, and Udta Punjab. Notably, this marks Phantom Films’ return to production after a hiatus. The initial shooting schedule spans three weeks in Mumbai, with the Seven Eleven Club banquet hall in Mira Road serving as the primary location for the first few days. The aim is to complete outdoor filming by mid-June, ensuring completion before the arrival of the monsoon season.
Junaid’s father, Aamir Khan, has reportedly been heavily involved in the pre-production of the film. However, he is scheduled to leave for Delhi this week to finalize shooting for his own upcoming project, Sitaare Zameen Par. Junaid Khan’s debut in Bollywood has already generated significant buzz, with audiences eagerly awaiting his performances in both Maharaj and the upcoming romantic comedy. As the son of Aamir Khan, one of the industry’s most respected actors, Junaid has big shoes to fill, but with the guidance of his father and the talented team behind him, he is poised to make a mark in the industry and carve out his own successful acting career.
