John Abraham Addresses Vedaa’s Box Office Struggles: ‘It’s Regretful When a Film Doesn’t Succeed Commercially

John Abraham is currently navigating a challenging phase at the box office. His latest film, Vedaa, has garnered critical acclaim but failed to connect with audiences, contributing to a streak of underperforming projects. The film faced tough competition, clashing with Stree 2 and Khel Khel Mein in cinemas. It seems that the horror humour sequel – Stree 2 has broken all the records so affecting the John Abraham movie was inevitable.

In a recent interview with Radio City, Abraham shared his disappointment while expressing pride in his work. “It’s a brave film to do. I wanted to collaborate with Nikkhil again after Batla House,” he remarked. He acknowledged that while the film was presented entertainingly, the heavy subject matter might deter some viewers. “If people aren’t interested in watching films with heavy subjects, that’s their choice. I respect it, but the subject must be addressed,” he added.

Directed by Nikkhil Advani, Vedaa tackles the sensitive issue of rape and its aftermath, drawing inspiration from real-life cases to highlight the crime’s pervasive nature. Despite its commercial failure, Abraham remains optimistic about the film’s significance. He stated, “I’m very proud that we made a very good film. This is possibly Nikkhil and my best work together.” While he admitted that disappointment often accompanies a film’s poor box office performance, he feels confident about Vedaa’s execution, praising the cast and crew for their contributions.

Abraham emphasized the film’s essential message, asserting that it is crucial to address such topics, even if they don’t appeal to a broad audience. He expressed satisfaction with the entire team’s efforts, from cinematography to action sequences, acknowledging mixed reviews regarding the screenplay but standing firm in his belief in the film’s overall quality. Looking ahead, John Abraham is set to star in Tehran, continuing his pursuit of impactful storytelling in cinema. Stay tuned for more only with us.
