Jal (2014) Overview :

Jal The upcoming Hindi Film has traveled around the world and is now being screened in India. The protagonist of the movie is headstrong Bakka, who is water diviner. He possesses the special skill to find water in desert areas. The backdrop of the movie is water scarcity where Bakka makes sincere efforts to solve the prevalent problems of drought in his village in the Rann of Kutch. During this time, he faces some unexpected events that weave the relationships between characters and give rise to feelings of love, enmity, deceit and many others. In his attempt to search water, Bakka tries to lend a hand to female ornithologist to save flamingos. All these events bring the dark side of characters to surface.

 Jal is a high octane movie replete with action drama. The shocking climax of the movie will surprise the audience. The movie is a visual treat and has been shot on a huge scale. The audience will be in awe to see the Rann of Kutch in a new manner altogether. Purab Kohli essays the character of Bakka, the water diviner. Kirti Kulhari, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Mukul Dev, Rahul Singh, Yashpal Sharma have played important characters in the movie. Directed by Girish Malik, the music of the movie has been composed by Sonu Nigam along with Bickram Ghosh, the renowned table player and percussionist. The movie has been screened at a number of film festivals around the world, including the Busan International Film Festival 2013 under the section, ‘New Currents’ as well as International Film Festival of India under the section, ‘Indian Panorama’.
