The comedian and veteran actor Jagdeep known for his role of Soorma Bhopali passed away. He was 81 years of age. Once again a bad news there for B Town as we can see yet another actor passing away. The veteran actor was born on 29th March 1939 in Amritsar as Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed popularly known as Jagdeep. He has worked in more than 400 films in B Town. Some of the best known roles he has played in his career include the one called Soorma Bhopali from the film Sholay along with Salman Khan’s father role in “Andaaz Apna Apna” and so on.
The late actor started working as a child artist working with the film Afsana by BR Chopra in 1951 and since then it was no looking back for the actor. He played as a child actor in films like “Ab Dilli Door Nahin”, “Munna”, “Aar Paar”, “Do Bigha Zamin” and “Hum Panchi Ek Dal Ke”. While as an adult he made his debut in films like Bhabhi followed by Barkha. His golden patch all started with GP Sipppy’s film “Brahmachari”in 1968 starring Shammi Kapoor.
His roles were applauded and he has remained active during the seventies, eighties and the nineties, and thus emerged as a familiar face in Bollywood industry playing the funny man roles in movies.He was last seen in the film Masti Nahi Sasti in 2017, which was the Ali Abbas Chaudhary-directed comedy film. The film also featured Kader Khan, Shakti Kapoor, Johnny Lever and Prem Chopra. His last rites are expected to be carried out today. Stay tuned for more for the actor.
