The film is made in the backdrop of Bihar based on real incidences. The story deals with a man called Abhay Singh played by Sidharth runs a groom kidnapping business but aspires to be the MLA of the area. He is backed by a strong henchman played by Javed Jaffery in his town. Everything seemed okay till he gets into the touch with Babli Yadav played by Parineeti Chopra who falls in love with this man and abducts him for the forced marriage under Jabariya Jodi. So, what goes wrong or right is interesting to explore.
The film seems to have an interesting storyline somewhere influenced by the land where the story in the films belongs. The makers were able to add the right amount of quirkiness adding better entertainment value. The film is more made for fun and enjoyment and not for knowing a certain culture like Jabariya Jodi that somewhere exists in the Northern States of the country where dowry remains a menace for parents of brides. In a sense, the film also educates about the menacing effects of dowry system which still exists in the Northern States like Bihar and UP. Now, talking about the performances, the film seems to have an interesting star cast and most of the actors have done justice to the given characters.
Starting from Siddharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra, both have tried their best to adopt the local dialect in the best way and they seemed successful in doing so. Sidharth has nailed playing Abhay Singh, while Parineeti Chopra also has done a decent job while playing the character the best. The others like Javed Jaffery, Sanjay Mishra and others also did a decent job. Talking about the other elements like music, screenplay, editing and other elements were okay and somewhere also helped to add the entertainment value of the film.
Jabariya Jodi- The Last Word
The film has an interesting script with quirky dialogues and sequences that makes it an interesting watch. If you are Sidharth Malhotra’s fan then you cannot afford to miss the on-screen chemistry between the two. It can be a good weekend watch if you are looking for a break from a lazy weekend.
