The Delhi High Court on 23 July (Tuesday) has directed the Super Cassettes Pvt Ltd, flourishing under the T-Series label, to organise a special screening of the movie Khandaani Shafakhana for a Delhi based sexologist who has claimed that the film is defaming him and his profession.

Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw has directed the Super Cassettes to show the film to the this sexologist on July 26 such that his apprehensions on reputation damages can be addressed and listed for further hearing on 29 July.

The movie, starring Sonakshi Sinha in the lead role is set to hit the theatres on 2 August.

While issuing the direction, the court said that after viewing the material on record, including the film’s trailer, it was of the prima facie view no damage has been caused to the reputation of the sexologist — Vijay Abbot.

The court was also of the prima facie view that there hasn’t been any infringement of any trademark as claimed by Abbot.

It noted that the registration of the trademark — Khandaani Shafakhana — had lapsed in 2010 and it was not in being since 2001. Super Cassettes initially remained hesitant to hold a private screening for Abbot, as it may open the gates to litigants demanding the same for all future cases, mentioning they were ready to show the film to Justice Endlaw, alone.

However, the court didn’t favour of the suggestion and the company agreed of holding the screening of the movie on 26 July.
