The UAE grieve the death of Lata Mangeshkar, as the Indian Pavilion at the Dubai Expo suspends cultural activities for two days

For the next two days, no cultural activities will be held at the Indian Pavilion at the Dubai Expo, and the tricolour will be flown at half-mast in honour of Indian music legend Lata Mangeshkar, who died early on Sunday.

‘As a mark of respect for legendary singer #LataMangeshkar, all cultural activities at the Indian pavilion#Expo2020Dubai, for the next two days, have been cancelled,” said UAE official Hassan Sajwani.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan officially opened the week-long Kerala Week festival two days ago in the presence of UAE’s Minister of Culture, Youth, and Social Development, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan.

The royal family, the Dubai administration, and many of her fans in the UAE have been shocked by the death of iconic Indian singer Lata Mangeshkar. Her family has received a condolence message from the UAE royal family. The Indian team members and visitors to the Indian Pavilion at the Dubai Expo observed a two-minute silence to pay tribute to her.

Lata Mangeshkar died on Sunday morning at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital, where she had been confined for the previous 28 days. Dr. Pratit Samdani, the veteran singer’s doctor, released a statement revealing that Lata didi died of multiple organ failure. “It is with profound grief that we announce the sad demise of #LataMangeshkar at 8:12 am. She has died because of multi-organ failure after more than 28 days of hospitalisation post COVID19,” he said.
