Disney/Pixar’s Inside Out 2 is generating massive revenue across theaters nationwide. It closed its opening Friday with an impressive $60 million, making it the second-best opening day for an animated film, only surpassed by Incredibles 2 in 2018, which earned $71.2 million. Inside Out 2’s performance also surpasses last summer’s animated hit, Sony’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which earned $51.8 million on its first day. These outstanding figures position Inside Out 2 as the third-highest opening weekend for an animated film, trailing behind Incredibles 2 ($182.6 million) and last year’s Super Mario Bros. Movie ($146.3 million).This weekend, Inside Out 2 is projected to achieve the biggest opening of the year, with estimates ranging between $120 million and $130 million across 4,440 theaters. If it reaches the $150 million mark, it could secure the second-best domestic opening for Pixar, following The Incredibles’ impressive $182.6 million.
In second place, Sony’s Bad Boys: Ride or Die continues to hold its ground against Inside Out 2, experiencing a 50% drop in its second weekend. The film earned $28 million, with $7.5 million on Friday, accumulating a total of $107.2 million by Sunday across 3,885 locations. Meanwhile, 20th Century Studios/Disney’s Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes remains in the top five during its sixth weekend, earning $4.45 million at 2,600 locations. It experienced an 18% decline and has amassed a total of $157 million so far.With its record-breaking opening and positive reception, Inside Out 2 is poised to continue its box office domination, bringing joy and emotions to audiences around the world.
