Indian Film Festival of Melbourne: SRK, Tabu, and Zoya Akhtar are the big winners

Last evening at Melbourne was memorable for the B Town bigwigs as they bagged big at the award night. The reasons are obvious, Shah Rukh Khan who was there as a guest of honor also bagged the award for his contribution in the B Town. To name a few, Zoya Akhtar got the best film honor award for her last film Gully Boy. The next was Vijay Sethupati also bagged the best actor award for his Tamil movie called Super Deluxe. Talking about the leading lady award, Tabu bagged the best actress award for her performance in Andhadhun.

Talking about the award for Shah Rukh Khan, he bagged the Excellence In Cinema’ award in the B Town. Talking about the award, SRK said that he is obliged to the people of Melbourne to honor him with the said award. He then talked about what art and cinema are all about the way it can help in controlling emotions with different forms of stories the filmmakers tell using the medium of cinema to the world. He then remembered his days in Melbourne when he was with his cast and crew of Chak De to shoot the film.

He then said that the film he did in Australia with the 12 girls winning the Hockey championship has changed his life. He called Melbourne to be a simple city, which he realized with age while comparing to other cities in the world. On the other hand, Zoya while talking about the award said that she is so excited to get this award and it’s her debut award outside the country as a producer. She then gave the credit to the people. Similarly, Tabu also thanked the city and the people who chose her for the said award.
