Huma Qureshi is glad for choosing Maharani, reveals her concerns while taking up the role

OTT’s Monica, aka Huma Qureshi, returned as Rani Bharti in Sony LIV’s political web series Maharani S2. Huma portrayed the character of an illiterate housewife who becomes the CM of Bihar all of a sudden after some goons try to murder her husband.

The actress, who made her web series debut with Laila, which was released on Netflix in 2019, disclosed that she wasn’t sure about playing a mother of three in Maharani. The makers offered this role to her during the COVID pandemic. She was briefed about her character on a Zoom call at that time.

Here’s what Huma Qureshi said:

While talking about her character in Maharani to a news portal called Bollywood Hungama, Huna Qureshi stated, “I had a lot of things to worry about when I went through the script. First, the role was that of a female with 2–3 kids, and you need to slot yourself before playing such characters. It felt too early, and I thought it was almost 10 years earlier to take up such roles. If I say that I didn’t question myself, then that would be a lie.

Huma Qureshi further added, “Later, I thought it was a fantastic script, and I was glad that it happened during the pandemic when everyone was struggling to find a reason to live and we as actors questioned ourselves. It’s a thing of gratitude that the script was narrated at that time. If it was during non-pandemic days, I would have rejected it due to distraction. It happened because I had so much time to think over it and make a decision then.”
