Housefull 5 Day 9 Box Office Report: Akshay Kumar starrer Achieves Success Despite Mixed Reviews

The latest comedy-thriller from Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, and Abhishek Bachchan, titled Housefull 5, has garnered predominantly negative reviews for its portrayal of women and reliance on slapstick humor. Nevertheless, the film has performed impressively at the box office. As of its second Saturday, Housefull 5 has grossed over Rs 212.76 crores globally, according to the filmmakers. A report from Sacnilk states that the worldwide collection reached Rs 207.6 crores after eight days. On its ninth day, the film added Rs 9 crores, bringing its total domestic collection in India to Rs 142.25 crores, with a gross India collection of Rs 159.6 crores. Given its production budget of Rs 250 crores, the film is expected to recoup its costs shortly.

Interestingly, Housefull 5 features two different climaxes, which seems to have boosted theater attendance significantly. The film has now become Akshay’s eighth-highest all-time grosser and Riteish Deshmukh’s fourth-highest all-time grosser. This installment has proven to be Akshay Kumar’s best-performing film at the box office this year, surpassing the collections of Kesari Chapter 2 and Sky Force. It has also outperformed previous hits like Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Rowdy Rathore.

On Saturday, Housefull 5 achieved an overall occupancy rate of 18.59 percent, with a total of 4,029 shows running across India. The highest occupancy was recorded in Chennai at 34.75 percent with 21 shows, followed by Jaipur at 26.50 percent with 157 shows, and Lucknow at 23 percent with 218 shows. In Mumbai, the occupancy rate was 21.25 percent across 679 shows, while in Delhi-NCR, it stood at 19 percent with 1,028 shows.
Directed by Tarun Mansukhani and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, Housefull 5 features an ensemble cast including Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Sonam Bajwa, Nargis Fakhri, Jacqueline Fernandez, Shreyas Talpade, Dino Morea, Fardeen Khan, Chitrangda Singh, Soundarya Sharma, Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, Johnny Lever, Chunky Pandey, and Nikitin Dheer in key roles, with Bobby Deol making a guest appearance.
