Housefull 3 Movie Review

Comedy without sensibility and too much overacting sums up Housefull 3

This Friday you have a solo release in the form of Housefull 3. The film is considered to be a big release considering the 3500 screens release targeting both Multiplexes and single screens. The film is a romantic comedy, which is co-written and directed by the duo directors – Sajid-Farhad, which happens to be its third instatement of the series called Housefull. The film is produced by the popular producer Sajid Nadiawala under the banner called Nadiawala Grandson Entertainment while it is directed by Eros International. The film is a multi-starrer venture, which has loads of actors like Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh, Nargis Fakhri, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Lisa Haydon in pivotal roles. The film is in London and Delhi.

Story

The film Houseful 3 is a light heart comedy and unlike the previous two installments, the story is seen very much similar wherein you can find three men – Akshay Kumar as Sandy/Sundi, Abhishek Bachchan as Bunty and Riteish Deshmukh as Teddy are seen convincing a father of three rich and beautiful daughters whom they call as their perfect match. For this, they leave no stone unturned to make the father of the three played by Boman Irani called Batuk Patel. Thus you can find loads of comedy being showcased by the actors while they try things for their marriage along with having a glimpse of their life with other things.

Review

In B Town you can find a couple of franchise movies and the trend for the same seems to be boosting up, however, very few films start the next where it has stopped in the earlier party and Housefull franchise is no exception. Yet you can find the third one to be different than the previous two but starting again and ending again with the same note. Keeping the marriage alliance at the center and doing some variation in the comedy has been the part and parcel of this film. Though the star cast seems to be great with few known for their perfect timing for comedy, it the film is overloaded with humor that eventually hampers the quality of puns and punches posed at different junctures. Both the half of the film is overloaded with humor, which at certain point of times becomes unbearable. At times you can even find the comic timing of the film being hampered the most.

The film has an interesting star cast unlike the previous installments, but the duo directors have failed to harness the true potential of these actors in B Town. Otherwise the actors would have given the gags. Besides there are ladies as well like Jacqueline Fernandez, Lisa Haydon, Nargis Fakhri, which simply are seen adding up the glam quotient in the film, however, in terms of acting and performance they have the least to deliver the audience. The story has minimum to offer, as the film has the same old story repeated though in a different styles. So, in terms of creativity and freshness, the film has minimal to cater the audience.

Now, talking about the performances, Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh were seen competing with each other in comic timing and both of them are seen scoring well. However, both of them were seen going overboard in it maligning the entertaining value to some extent. Others like Boman Irani was seen perfect in the role of a good father, but Abhishek as usual was seen struggling hard.  The duo director though often are seen being castigated a lot by the critics but they end up making good collection at box office. So unlike the previous films, if he is lucky he will end up making good moolah at the box office, otherwise they have least to deliver to the audience.

Music, Direction, Screenplay and other elements

In terms of music, the film has a decent numbers, which have been doing well over the chartbuster list. Few of the songs are really being popular among the audience, which has helped to garner a good buzz for the film before its release. Talking about the direction there isn’t much to talk about as all their films have been the usual things to count on. Secondly, the issues of screenplay and technical elements like editing, location and other stuff are a bit above average and don’t really help to boost up its rating. Nevertheless the film has fair amount of chance to earn better over the box office.

Housefull 3 Last Word

Housefull 3 is essentially a comedy film, which the makers claim to be a family entertainer. However, considering the third class comedy and songs, one cannot call the movie to be a family entertainer. There isn’t much in the film except an attempt to woo the father of three daughters to have their settings with the girls and with added humor and comedy simply make things bad to worse. With so many flaws in the film in terms of poor story, too much of overacting and boasting of the humor has made things bad to worse hampering the rating to a great extent.

Rating – 1.5
