Kareena Kapoor who is all set to make her big screen appearance with Aamir Khan again in Laal Singh Chaddha said that she auditioned for the role. The film which is set to release on August 11 also stars Mina Singh and Chaitanya Akkineni in an important role.
Laal Singh Chaddha, directed by Advait Chauhan, is an official Hindi adaptation of the 1994 Hollywood film Forest Gump. Tom Hanks played the lead in the original. Aamir Khan Productions, Kiran Rao, and Viacom18 Studios are producing Laal Singh Chaddha.
When asked if she agreed to be in the film because Aamir was in it, Kareena said,“Aamir does not work like that. He never says do this film because I am also in it. He always says ‘listen to the story first of all’. He asked me to listen to a narration for this film as well. He gave me a four-hour-long narration and that is why I said yes to Laal Singh Chaddha.”
Kareena Kapoor added, “I had to even give an audition for Laal Singh Chaddha. It was so that I could prove I am apt for the role, and I am perfect for the older part.”
Laal Singh Chaddha was supposed to come out earlier this year. However, it avoided a clash with the Kannada blockbuster KGF: Chapter 2 when it was postponed due to VFX work delays. The film will now compete in the box office with Akshay Kumar’s Raksha Bandhan, which also opens on August 11.
Meanwhile, apart from Laal Singh Chaddha, Kareena is working on some interesting projects. She recently wrapped filming a feature film based on the Japanese bestseller The Devotion of Suspect X. Sujoy Ghosh directed the film, which will be Kareena’s digital debut. It will be available on Netflix.
