Rakesh Roshan is the type of filmmaker who has always tried to push the boundaries of Indian cinema. He was not just a well-known actor in the 70s and 80s; he was also a great producer, director, and screenwriter. He gained popularity at every point of his directorial journey and has always preferred taking up the most challenging projects.

On his 73rd Birthday, let’s have a look at some of his finest directorial work 

Khoon Bhari Maang (1988)

Khoon Bhari Maang, featuring veteran actress Rekha, is something you will never forget if you have watched it. This women’s empowerment movie also starred Kabir Bedi and Shatrughan Sinha. Rekha avenging betrayal was the best thing that happened to it, adding a fresh POV to the movie. The intriguing plot of this movie, in which a mother is set to take revenge on a man who did wrong to her and her family, will keep you glued to the seat. It went on to become a huge success after it was released.

 Kishen Kanhaiya (1990)

This was like an old version of Salman Khan’s Judwaa where they had two look-alike male leads in the story. It features a stellar star cast of Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Amrish Puri, Kader Khan, and Shilpa Shirodkar.

The plot focuses on two win brothers separated during their birth. It was a remake of the 1968 films ‘Ram Aur Shyam’ and ‘ChaalBaaz’ which also had Anil Kapoor in it.

Karan Arjun (1995)

Karan Arjun became cult famous and Salman-Shah Rukh is known for their roles in this movie even today. This is also a revenge drama, followed by the concept of the rebirth of two brothers killed by Amresh Puri’s character. Karan Arjun exacts vengeance on their uncle for the deaths of their father and grandfather.It also stars Kajol, Raakhee, Mamta Kulkarni and others. The on-screen presence of Salman and Shahrukh made it a huge blockbuster.

Koyla (1997)

Rakesh Roshan directed Koyla in 1997 which revolves around a mute guy (Shah Rukh Khan), He requests a girl named Gauri (Madhuri Dixit) for a fake marriage with his employer. However, the duo start liking each other and make all possible attempts to escape from the clutches of Raja Choudhary, played by Amrish Puri.

Kaho Na Pyar Hai (2000)

Rakesh Roshan’s son Hrithik started his acting career with Ameesha Patel in this love story. Hrithik’s dancing skills were noticed in his very first movie, and his performance also received the audience’s approval. He played a double role in this film, where he played a young man who adds happiness to the life of a rich but sweet and kind girl played by Ameesha. Fate separates them when he dies, and then his look-alike is introduced as her second love.

Koi Mil Gaya (2003), Krrish (2006), Krrish 3 (2013)

It all started with Koi Mil Gaya, where Hrithik Roshan played a mentally challenged guy, Rohit, and Priti Zinta was seen as his love interest. It introduced us to the concept of human-alien friendship. The movie became such a hit that Rakesh Roshan decided to come up with its squeal, Krrish.

Krrish was released in 2006, which took the story ahead and the plot shifted to Rohit’s son, played by Hrithik only. Priyanka Chopra played the love interest in this movie.

Then came Krrish 3. Both Hrithik and Priyanka were retained in the third part, while Kangana was added as an antagonist.
