HBD Farhan Akhtar: Let’s have a look at the magnificent journey of this actor-director in film industry
Bollywood actor Farhan Akhtar is a popular name in the industry today, but there was a time when this talented star needed a driving force to accomplish what he has today. The actor, who was born on January 9, 1974, is celebrating his 49th birthday today with his wife Shibani Dandekar.
This talented Bollywood star hasn’t just acted in movies; he has also directed some amazing projects. He is the son of lyricist and writer Javed Akhtar and Honey Irani. Very few might be aware that Farhan Akhtar started working as an assistant director when he was just 17. He directed his first film at that time, in 1991.
“I will throw you out of the house,” threatened his mother
Farhan Akhtar dropped out of college and sat around watching movies all the time for almost two years. In a conversation with the media, the actor said that his mother was so upset that she threatened to expel him from the house. Afraid of her threat, he began writing scripts like his father and created “Dil Chahta Hai.” Surprisingly, this very first project by him, released in 2001, was a huge hit in theatres. After this, he directed Lakshya in 2004, which was also well-received by the audience. In addition, his film Dil Chahta Hai earned him a national award.
The multi-talented actor finally made his acting debut with Rock On
While he has directed several masterpieces, he has also acted in and sung in many Bollywood movies. He made his first appearance in a movie in 2008’s film Rock On. He also sang songs in this movie, and she was honoured with several rewards for her work in the film. Everyone became a fan of his acting as well as his singing talent, and then there was no looking back for the actor. He went on to deliver outstanding performances in Luck. By Chance, Sky is Pink, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, and Karthik calling Karthik. For the superhit film, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, he didn’t charge any money and just took Rs. 11 as a blessing.
He has also worked on the Hollywood movie “Bride and Prejudice,” which was released in 2004 and featured Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as the lead.
Farhan Akhtar rejected several movies, saw Sholay 50 times
In an old conversation, the actor revealed that he watched Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra’s Sholay almost 50 times. However, he didn’t like it much, and Big B’s Deewar was his favourite instead.
The actor rejected many Bollywood movies that later went on to become huge hits. Among them were films like Aamir Khan’s Rang De Basanti and Rana Daggubati’s Dum Maaro Dum. Farhan was actually the first choice in this film, but he chose to turn down the offer.
The actor will now be directing a film based on a road trip by three friends, in which Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, and Alia Bhatt will be seen together.
