Priyadarshan to Direct Bhoot Police 2 Without Saif Ali Khan and Arjun Kapoor: Report
Today seems the day of sequels and franchise in the Tinsel Town. We hear too many news on various frnachise in the industry announcing their sequels. And Bhoot Police is certianly not an exception. As per the recent buzz, veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan is reportedly set to helm the sequel to the 2021 horror-comedy Bhoot Police, with major changes to both the cast and production style. Industry insiders reveal that Priyadarshan has been signed for the project with a hefty fee of Rs 21 crores, reflecting strong confidence in his creative vision for the franchise’s next chapter.
According to sources speaking to entertainment portal Pinkvilla, while Bhoot Police 2 will retain the signature blend of humor and supernatural thrills that made the first film a hit, the original leads Saif Ali Khan and Arjun Kapoor will not be part of the sequel.
“The sequel will keep the horror-comedy spirit intact but will feature a completely new cast. Saif Ali Khan and Arjun Kapoor won’t be returning,” the source confirmed. The makers plan to reinvent the franchise with a fresh duo—one senior actor paired with a junior talent, to create an engaging new dynamic.
The film aims to stay true to the horror-comedy genre but with a more theatrical and stylized treatment, the insider added. The original Bhoot Police, directed by Pavan Kirpalani, starred Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Yami Gautam. It attracted audiences for its lighthearted ghost-hunting theme and gained further popularity on OTT platforms after its 2021 release.
Priyadarshan, renowned for classics like Hera Pheri, Hungama, and Hulchul, is currently juggling multiple projects including Bhooth Bangla and Haiwaan, both slated for 2026. Bhooth Bangla, starring Akshay Kumar, already has a confirmed theatrical release date and marks a reunion between Kumar and Priyadarshan after more than a decade.
