This has been a promising week for Hindi films on Netflix, as three of them have earned spots in the top 10 global films trending on the platform. Notably, Kiran Rao’s Laapataa Ladies made a remarkable debut on the streaming giant’s opening charts. Gautam’s Article 370 and Varun Grover’s All India Rank. While the political drama claimed the third rank in its second week, Varun’s academic drama made a modest entry at number 10 in its debut week. Potential for Greater Success in Week 2 Laapataa Ladies has the potential to follow a similar trajectory as Yami Gautam’s Article 370 on the streaming platform. Article 370 debuted in the Netflix Global Top 10 charts last week at number 8 with 2.1 million views before surging to number 3 in its second week with an additional 3.7 million views.
Comparing Kiran Rao’s delightful drama, it has outperformed Yami Gautam’s Article 370 in its opening week. The comedy-drama, still showing in theaters, debuted globally at number 5 with 2.2 million views. Interestingly, it has surpassed numerous Hindi films released this year. The film’s official synopsis states, “The misadventures of two young brides who get lost from the same train.
