Haider Movie Overview

Haider is an upcoming Bollywood drama that is slated to be released on October 2nd, 2014. Vishal Bhardwaj is its director, while it is written by both Bhardwaj and Basharat Peer. This movie is said to be the adaption of ‘Hamlet’, written by William Shakespeare and was shot in Kashmir. The movie stars Shahid Kapoor as eponymous protagonist, Tabu, Kay Kay Menon, Shraddha Kapoor, Narendra Jha, Kulbhusan Kharbanda, Lalit Parimod, Ashish Vidyarthi, Aamir Bashir, Sumit Kaul, Rajat Bhagat and Irrfan Khan in special appearance. It is said to be the 3rd installment of the Shakespeare trilogy of Bhardwaj after Maqbool and Omkara. It is produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Vishal Bhardwaj. The music of the film is also given by Vishal Bhardwaj and edited by Aarif Sheikh. VB Pictures is the production company, while it is distributed by UTV Motion Pictures.

Initially, Kapoor and Bharadwaj had been discussing of making the sequel of Kaminey, which was a blockbuster. But, further discussions led them to produce another Shakespeare’s hit play. Kapoor is said to have become the film’s producer due to the belief and trust that he has in the success of the film. The movie’s budget stands a round Rs. 37 core.

Most of the shooting for the movie had taken place in Srinagar. This movie was initially slated to be released along with Ranbir Kapoor’s Jagga Jasoos. But, due to protests during the time of shooting the movie in Kashmir University had the release time to be shifted further a bit. This film was shot in several places in J&K like Pahalgam, Kehribal area in Anantnag, Mattan, Aishan Sahab Zaina Kadal Bridge, Nishat Bagh, Dal Lake, Qazigund, Martand Sun Temple, Residency Road, Press Colony/Enclave, Naseem Bagh, Sonamarg, Green Tunnel, etc.

With beautiful locations, this is a movie that is sure to be much awaited by the audience.
