2014 belonged to women dominated movies, whether you talk about Mardani or Mary Kom, the year has a long list of films with females doing the lead role. Rani Mukherji was the central character in the Yash Raj Films called Mardani, which led her the National Award for Best Representation of the Cause of Safety, Security and Protection of Women and Girl Child. The actress was honoured for creating awareness regarding child trafficking via Pradeep Sarkar’s film Mardani wherein she played a Senior Inspector character of Crime Branch called Shivani Shivaji Roy who was seen in the movie tracking down the child trafficking cells to secure a girl child.

The film Mardani was able to get applauds worldwide and at the same time has been instrumental in transcending the message of movie regarding children trafficking. Speaking on this occasion, she said that she really feels humbled when she is applauded by a number of people and felt proud that she has contributed in some way or the other. She was also pleased to inform that it was her pleasure getting such award for a film, which has somehow contributed in spreading the awareness about the menace called child trafficking.
