Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi will be released on February 25, and the first song of the movie ‘Dholida’ is released today. Lead actress Alia Bhatt is seen in a white saree and hair bun covered with flowers. The character of Alia in Gangubai Kathiawadi is different from what she has done previously on the screen.
This Biographical crime drama is based on the life of Gangubai Harjivandas, who is become in charge of the red light area in Kamathipura. The film digs up Gangubai’s life story. She comes from Kathiawad to Mumbai and is made in charge of the red light area. It is based on the book ‘Mafia Queens of Mumbai’.
Talking about censorship, Gangubai has made four changes. There is a scene that shows Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru implanting a rose on Gangubai which has been modified. And also two scenes from the film got deleted and a couple of dialogues get replaced.
Even this Sanjay Leela Bhansali has undergone some minor cuts but has been awarded a UA certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
Meanwhile, Huma Qureshi revealed that she also playing the special character in the movie. Huma during a chat with IANS mentioned: “I am so excited as this is one of the busiest months that I am going to have. On one hand, my web series ‘Mithya’ is releasing and on the other hand, I am making a special appearance in Sanjay sir’s Gangubai.”
