For Independence Day 2018 will it be ‘Manikarnika’ v/s ‘Gold’ ?
Every Independence Day and Republic Day we often expect movies from Akshay Kumar. He is a man who is known to do 4-5 films a year and thus gain good earnings with his film closing to 100 crore club. His films like Rustom, Baby, PadMan, and others remain the classic examples of the films that released at these junctures. So 2018 is certainly not an exception. This time, he is coming up with his film Gold, which is expected to hit the screens during the Independence Day. However, this time it would be a clash of Gold with the film called Manikarnika, which happens to be a period drama having Kangana Ranaut in the lead role.
However, the said movie of Kangi was supposed to hit the month of April but now as per the latest buzz the film is expected to hit during the Independence Day eve. And looking at the latest reports, the actor would be playing the role of Rani Laxmibai in the film. This will therefore clash with the Akshay Kumar starrer movie called Gold, which will be directed by the Talaash film called Reema Kagti. However, with its previous release date, the period drama was suppose d to clash with the Rajnikanth film along with Saif Ali Khan starrer movie called Bazaar by Nikhil Advani, hence the makers have averted the release of the film.
Besides these reasons, the film has been delayed due to other reasons as well. Firstly, the actress (Kangana) seemed getting injured while she was shooting an action scene and was then rushed to the hospital. The very same day she was seen returning to Mumbai and had to be on the bed rest for not less than 2-3 weeks which had an impact over the shoots. On the other side, the VFX work of the film has been commenced the very same month as scheduled in 2017 December still the set deadline will not be met. Also, the makers feel that since the content of the film is relevant to the Independence struggle, it is appropriate to release the film, which would therefore come along with the Akshay Kumar starrer film Gold.
