Finally the much hyped and awaited movie of Kareena Kapoor Khan and Arjun Kapoor – Ki And Ka released today. Despite a decent buzz in the media, the film opened up with a dull response especially if you at the box office morning show. The occupancy reports tolled to around 15 to 20 percent, however, with the passing shows, it was seen becoming smarter and better reaching up to 70 percent. Thanks to the decent fan following of Arjun Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan in the B Town audience base, the film seemed to pick up, yet it failed to perform par the expectations as it was a solo release.
The film was more targeted to multiplex crowd and less to the single screens considering the different and contemporary subject of the film. As per reports, the first day box office collection or Ki and Ka tolled to around 7.3 crores, which is actually a decent figure. The trade pundits and experts are expecting a surge in the coming first weekend of the film. Also, as we see the exit of Team India from World Cup T20, hence the importance of the final match between England and West Indies seems low. This would certainly increase the footfalls of the film to a great extent on Sunday evening shows.
The other films like the John Abraham starrer action flick – Rocky Handsome and even the Karan Johar film Kapoor and Sons Since 1921 are not likely to hamper the film. Also, the film Ki and Ka has managed to secure 13 crores with selling its satellite rights, which simply means fifty percent of the budget has recovered and the rest of the money recovery would be rather simple for the film. Let’s see how things move for the film but as of now, the picture seems too rosy for Ki and Ka.
