Juhi Chawla and Farhan Akhtar were honored for best actresses and actor category respectively for the films ‘Gulaab Gang’ and ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ at the 145th Dada saheb Phalke Awards. This is one of the very prestigious awards which are given to the actors with eclectic performances in the year which compliment to Indian cinema while contributing to essence of the country through such powerful medium of films.
The two actors received the award during the event held on Wednesday at Bhaidas Hall, Juhu, Mumbai. Farhan shared his happiness of the honor by tweeting it on the micro blogging site and sharing the news. He said, “Honored to receive Best Actor at the Dada saheb Phalke Academy Awards from the hands of the Governor of Maharashtra. Thank you to team BMB (‘Bhaag Milka Bhaag’)”. Jitendra who is yesteryear actor received the award on the contribution towards Indian film industry. Sunidhi Chauhan was in other recipients along them in the singing category. Sunidhi too the news with her fans on Twitter as she said, “Just received the most Prestigious Shri Dada saheb Phalke Award. Feel so honored and blessed! It’s all you people…Thank you!”
Other artists who won the awards were Barkha Roy for Phalke different classic film ‘My Friend Hussain’, Gautam Rode for best TV actor male ‘Sarswatichandra’, best TV actress female ‘Yeh Rista Kya KehlataHai’- Heena Khan, best TV actor ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil – Kapil Sharma, Salma Salim Khan was awarded SarswatibaiPhalke Award, Best music- Vanraj Bhatia, best film flame- Rajeev Ruia and PhalkeKalptaru Award was won by Rajshree Production.
