Exclusive Runway 34: Ajay Devgn opens up on directing the film along with acting, working with Rakul Preet, Amitabh Bachchan and a lot more
Recently in an interview with Ajay Devgn, the actor talked about his upcoming film Runway 34. In this interview, the actor was asked about the difficulties he faced while shooting as a lead and on the other side directing it as well. To this, Ajay said, “It’s Just a lot of hard work, setting up the cameras, checking the performance. As an actor, you shoot and as a director, you go back and watch the shot. So there is a lot of hard work and you have to be there that’s it.”
The actor was also asked about working with Amitabh Bachchan after a sabbatical of 7 years. Replying to this, Ajay said,” we are always in touch which other so it never feels like you are working after so long, and with him, there is a comfort zone, I am very much comfortable with him because I have known him since when I was a kid. The kind of dedication and the kind of actor he is, he only inspires you. He’ll say ke mein subah 11 baje aaunga aur subah 9 baje aa jate hai”. Further, he also said that it is easy to direct Mr. Bachchan in the film. He said, “I think it is easy for me, because he is very intermediating but he makes you very comfortable. So for me, he is not intermediating because I have known him, because I have that kind of repo so I don’t think was difficult for me.”
Talking about the cast, the actor said, “obviously I suited the role so I decided I’ll do it. I am very happy that I cast Rakul because, if you see the film, she has gone beyond my expectations and I had worked with her in De De Pyar De so I knew that she has the potential to pull it off. But when you see the film you’ll get to know that she has performed really great.
And for Mr Bachchan, I didn’t have any alternative for the mind of presence I needed.
Further the actor also revealed about changing the title from May Day to Runway 34. Ajay said, ” People was not understanding May Day, I thought we will try to explain it somehow in the trailer but one day I was sitting with a senior educated person and he said yeh May Day labour day pe hai kya,” this made the actor change the name of the film assuming if an educated person doesn’t know what is May Day then it should be definitely changed.
However, Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh and Amitabh Bachchan starrer Runway 34 directed by Ajay Devgn himself is all set to release on 29th April 2022.
