EXCLUSIVE: “In this Asur 2 you will get to see various new shades of my character” reveals Amey Wagh

Amey Wagh plays the role of a socially awkward and introvert CBI officer Rasool Shaikh in Asur. But there is a big surprise towards the end of the first season and it changes the audience’s whole perspective about his character. And now Amey revealed that because of this big surprise, we will get to witness completely new shades of his character in the second season.

“Obviously I can’t reveal too much but I can assure you that you will see some new shades of this character that you didn’t see in the first season” revealed Amey Wagh.”He also has few surprises for the second season and I’m sure the viewers will definitely be shocked when these surprises get revealed on screen”, Wagh added.

Amey Wagh also revealed that his character of Rasool Shaikh is completely in contrast to his real life personality. “Rasool is a very introvert and socially awkward guy, which is in complete contrast to who and how I’m in real life. I had to put in a lot of effort to get into this character because I’m completely opposite of this character. He comes across as a cold blooded human being who has a very unique style of interacting with other people. But for me the most difficult thing was to express through eyes, because my character is such that he doesn’t show any expression with face and solely expresses with his eyes. And that was a really tough thing but I believe I have managed to do that”.

The shoot of Asur 2 began after the second lockdown was over and everything was almost back to normal. So there was a gap of almost two years or so between the shoot of the first and second season, and Amey found it difficult to once again get into and understand the psychology of this unique character especially because of the gap of two years between the shoot.

“It is quite difficult, especially when you are playing a character with whom you cannot relate at all. And to make it even more difficult, we also had a more than two years of gap between the shoot. But we all actors had one advantage and that is, we already had the footage of the first season. So before we began the shoot I watched the whole first season a couple of times to once again understand this person’s psychology and how he thinks. And it did help”.

Amey Wagh also admitted that his character of Rasool Shaikh is in complete contrast to his real life personality. “Rasool is a very introvert and socially awkward guy, which is in complete contrast to who and how I’m in real life. I had to put in a lot of effort to get into this character because I’m completely opposite of this character. He comes across as a cold blooded human being who has a very unique style of interacting with other people. But for me the most difficult thing was to express through eyes, because my character is such that he doesn’t show many expression with face and solely expresses with his eyes. And that was a really tough thing but I believe I have managed to do that and the credit also goes to our director Oni Sen. He really helped me and also other artists understand their characters, so if you like our performance then the credit of this also goes to our director.

Amey Wagh also agreed that the scale is quite bigger this time and there are also a lot of outdoor and real location shoots. “Yes, the scale is definitely a lot bigger for this season, but my character is such that I didn’t have to go to many real locations to shoot. But the rest of the cast did have to shoot outdoors and in real locations a lot. They even had to travel to many real locations in different regions of India to shoot”.
