EXCLUSIVE:  Amey Wagh reveals why fans had to wait for more than 3 years for ‘Asur 2’

In the mythological thriller web series ‘Asur,’ popular Marathi actor Amey Wagh plays Rasool Shaikh. The show, which premiered on March 2, 2020, gradually grew in popularity by word of mouth and now has a massive fan base across India. After three years of waiting, the makers are finally ready with the second season, which will be available on JioCinema for free from 1st June .

Some fans were little upset that they had to wait for three years for the second season and now in an exclusive conversation with Cinetalkers, Amey Wagh revealed why it took them more than three years to come up with the second season especially after having such a huge fan following across India. “Frankly speaking, yes I do agree we took a bit more time to come up with the second season” Said Amey.”Generally there is 1 or 2 years of gap between two seasons. Ideally we should have come up with the second season a bit earlier. And my one and only reason for this delay is that we wanted to give the best of the best possible from us and that’s why writers spent almost two years on writing the script for this much- awaited second season”.

Amey went on to say that the delay may turn out to be a blessing in disguise for them. “If you are familiar with Indian web shows, you must have noticed that whenever the first season becomes a huge hit, the next season fails to live up to the huge expectations of fans because in their hurry to deliver the content as soon as possible, they compromise on the quality of the content, and they end up losing that fans following “.

Amey explained that that was something they didn’t want to happen to them. “It was a huge responsibility for us to live up to those high expectations. And to make sure that doesn’t happen with us, our writers and producers worked hard on the second season, and I believe we will not only live up to fans’ expectations, but may even surprise them even more this time.”
