Dunki Global Box Office Triumph: Shah Rukh Khan’s Film Surpasses Lifetime Collection of War, Nears Milestone of Exceeding Tiger 3

Dunki, led by Shah Rukh Khan and directed by Rajkumar Hirani, continues to play at select locations, benefiting from the lack of competition. However, this will soon change as Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter is set to take over this Thursday. With that in mind, this may be the last update on the film’s worldwide box office collection.

Despite high expectations, Dunki fell short of reaching mammoth numbers due to mixed reviews and word-of-mouth. However, it still managed to garner a solid total globally, thanks to the support of family audiences during the festive season of Christmas and New Year.

In terms of collections, Dunki has crossed the 230 crores milestone at the Indian box office, currently standing at 232 crores net, making it a plus affair. Its gross stands at 273.76 crores. In the overseas market, the film has achieved blockbuster success, grossing 196.84 crores. Combining both, the worldwide box office collection stands at an impressive 470.60 crores.

Surpassing the lifetime collection of War, Dunki has emerged as a significant success with its 470.60 crores gross. However, it falls just short of Tiger 3’s 472.77 crores gross. Unfortunately, Fighter’s grand release will bring an end to Dunki’s theatrical run, taking away whatever shows/screens are left for the Shah Rukh Khan starrer.

Dunki did face some setbacks due to the release of Prabhas’ Salaar. If it had a solo release, the film could have comfortably surpassed the 500 crores gross mark at the worldwide box office.

Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, Dunki hit theaters on December 21, 2023. Alongside Shah Rukh Khan, the film also featured Taapsee Pannu, Vikram Kochhar, Anil Grover, and Boman Irani in key roles. Vicky Kaushal made a cameo appearance in the film.
