Producer Deepak Mukut Upset with Anil Sharma Over Apne 2 Comments: “He Is Not Authorized to Make Such a Rash Statement”

Producer Deepak Mukut has expressed his strong displeasure with director Anil Sharma for announcing that the sequel to the Deols’ family film Apne cannot be made without the family’s patriarch, Dharmendra. Mukut stated firmly, “On the contrary, Apne must be made now more than ever. We were working on the project with Dharam ji. Now, Sunny (Deol) and I will carry forward Apne as a tribute to Dharam ji. He will be present in the project in spirit.
The original Apne featured Dharam ji alongside Sunny and Bobby, and Apne 2 will also showcase Sunny’s son Karan in a key role. I will be discussing this with Sunny once the mourning period is over.”He expressed surprise and frustration over Anil Sharma’s announcement about the project being called off following Dharam ji’s passing. “He is not authorized to make such a rash statement. I don’t understand why he said it. He denies having made such a statement, but how else could he be quoted on such a sensitive topic?
The decision to proceed with the project is not Anil Sharma’s alone. It rests with Sunny and me, and we are moving ahead full steam. We owe it to Dharam ji and his fans worldwide.”When asked if he would consider replacing Anil Sharma as director given his stance, Mukut replied, “It’s a possibility. I’m not ruling it out. We may have a new director, but that’s not the priority. What matters most is that Apne 2 moves forward as a tribute to Dharam ji, featuring Sunny, Bobby, and Karan Deol.”
