Dirty Politics Movie Review : Mallika is back with her hottest avatar

Dirty Politics review

As the name suggest, this film is all about showing the filth and muck evident in Indian politics. Mallika Sherawat is the leading cast in the film along with slew of other actors with few veterans like Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri and Anupam Kher along with others like Jackie Shroff, Ashutosh Rana, Dikshit Dave and Dhruv Agarwal. The movie is directed and written by K.C. Bokadi, while it is produced by Nihal Farhat under the banner of B.M.B Music & Magnetics Ltd. It is produced at a whopping budget of 110 crores, while falls under the category of drama and action. The film deals with the dirty politics showcasing the muscle and political power and the people aspiring to get to higher positions seen falling lowest of low to pursue their dreams in politics. The film remained in controversy for nudity and other things.

Mallika Sherawat has been in the news for her nudity in her earlier movies and Dirty Politics is no exception. The story of the film deals with a women who is leaving no stone unturned to reach out to the highest position in Indian Polity. The lady at the centre who aspires to reach out to the height of political position is seen doing all the compromises to embark over the chair of state’s chief. She is seen using and misusing a number of things, which remains accessible to her. Thus the plot of the film revolves around the life of an aspiring politician who in the role of opportunism and shrewdness comes into power to make her name, fame and money through her political career. Amidst all her struggle, she is seen failing, which is being uncovered by a kind hearted and truth loving journalist played by Naseeruddin Shah. This character was offered to Mr. Arvind Kejriwal, which is subsequently denied for obvious reasons.

Now, let’s talk about performances. Honestly speaking, Mallika Sherawat has nothing to show except her body, which she has done in this film as well. Check her bed scenes with Om Puri, which makes her sell soft porn via serious subject films like Dirty Politics. She often tries to overshadow her weak acting skills with hot scenes and Dirty Politics is no exception, nevertheless, there is no alternate to genuine acting skills, which seems to be a big failure. So, in a movie with sting operation championed by Mallika’s character is being used to pursue her dreams to do big in Political Hierarchy. Besides, you have veteran actors like Om Puri, Anupam Kher and Naseeruddin Shah, who were simply awesome in playing a number of characters in this film.  Naseer in the role of an investigative journalist has been simply awesome and similar is the story of Ashutosh Rana, Anupam Kher and Om Puri.

As far as direction, editing, screenplay and other things are concerned, they seemed average, which really doesn’t seem to add any score for the film in terms of quality, which one expects from any genuine film made on such issues. Much efforts seems to have wasted on making a movies, which somewhere resemble to an ordinary porn level movie. The only presence of Maliika Sherawat symbolizes, which the director despite knowing was seen taking a big risk.  The music and songs, too are not that par and reflects vulgarity, which goes well with this actress.

Last Word  : Dirty Politics Review

The subject of politics is a serious affair, which has to be handled with care. Ironically, the director has simply used this subject to make a typical masala movie, which seems to be a waste of time, energy and resources. In fact, time to learn something from filmmakers like Prakash Jha and Madhur Bhandarkar. After all making a realistic subject movies are not the jack of all kind of thing, which anyone can think of trying and doing it with great perfection.
