Dhurandhar Releases on Netflix, But Fans Express Disappointment – Here’s Why

After making a global impact, Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar is now available on Netflix. However, many fans are disappointed because the streaming version is shorter than the theatrical cut. Ranveer Singh’s action thriller Dhurandhar, which had a successful theatrical run starting December 2025, stars Ranveer Singh, R. Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, and Arjun Rampal. The film follows a gripping spy mission led by India’s Intelligence Bureau. Despite its popularity, viewers have criticized the Netflix release for trimming about nine minutes compared to the cinema version.
The theatrical runtime of Dhurandhar is 3 hours and 45 minutes, while the Netflix cut runs 3 hours and 25 minutes. Soon after the Netflix release, social media was flooded with complaints about muted dialogues and edited scenes. Many fans were surprised to find censored language and nearly ten minutes of footage cut from the streaming version. This sparked frustration, especially since OTT platforms are expected to offer uncut content for mature audiences.

Several posts highlighted the irony of censoring an “A” (adult) certified film. One viewer commented,
“You certify the film as A, but mute/censor words? Are we five-year-olds? Everyone here is over 18. Watching a censored film just steals its raw, natural vibe.”
Another wrote,
“I was hoping for an uncut version, but the OTT one mutes the curse words just like the theatre version.”
A third user questioned, “Why are the abuses censored?”

Concerns were also raised about the missing footage. One viewer asked, “Why have you trimmed 10 minutes? Missing scenes affect the narrative flow.”Dhurandhar’s plot — centered on a covert operation to dismantle a terror network linked to real incidents like the IC-814 hijacking and the 2001 Parliament attack — had drawn acclaim for its intense action and gripping storyline.

Despite the backlash, Dhurandhar continues to perform strongly in its eighth week since release, fueling ongoing conversations about streaming standards and content censorship in India.
