Deepak Mukut to Re-Release Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana; Rajkummar Rao’s Film Hits Theaters During Women’s Day Week

The trend of re-releasing films shows no signs of slowing down, especially following the success of Sanam Teri Kasam (2016) and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013) during their reruns. Deepak Mukut, whose company Soham Rockstar presented Sanam Teri Kasam, expressed his delight that this cult love story finally received the recognition it deserved in cinemas, which it didn’t achieve during its original theatrical run nine years ago. This month, he is gearing up for another film to hit cinemas: Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana (2017), which is set to re-release on March 7, coinciding with Women’s Day week.

Like Sanam Teri Kasam, Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana also underperformed at the box office, grossing just ₹11.14 crores. However, over the years, it has garnered a dedicated cult following thanks to its engaging plot, dramatic moments, strong performances, and the memorable song ‘Thukra Ke Mera Pyaar,’ which has its own fanbase.A trade expert noted, “There’s no major Hindi release on March 7 since The Diplomat has moved to March 14. This is an ideal time for Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana to return to cinemas. It will likely secure a decent screen count, which could increase if demand is high.”Now, the question remains whether Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana can replicate the success of Sanam Teri Kasam.

The film stars Rajkummar Rao and Kriti Kharbanda in lead roles and centers on Aarti, who is set to enter an arranged marriage with a simpleton named Sattu. On her wedding day, Aarti discovers she has passed her PCS exams and, realizing her in-laws would not support her career, she flees, confiding only in her sister and uncle. Five years later, Aarti, now a successful sub-registrar, faces unexpected challenges when she is accused of corruption, with Sattu being the officer investigating her case. Directed by Ratnaa Sinha and produced by Vinod Bachchan’s Soundrya Productions, the re-release has been confirmed by Ratnaa’s husband, filmmaker Anubhav Sinha, through an Instagram story.
