The new GR released by Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has brought a sigh of relief for the entertainment industry after the Lockdown, where work was completely stalled after the lock-down.
In the new GR, it has been approved by the CM that producers of various shows, advertising films and films can start working in the next few days.
JD Majithia, President of the Film and Television Producers Council of India (Web and TV Division) confirmed this news and said, “We would first like to thank Uddhav Thackeray that he is fast addressing our concerns and Helping us find a way out. We had full faith in him but did not expect things to come so quickly and easily. Now we have to discuss the roadmap ahead internally. ”
“It will take a few meetings with all industry bodies to come up with an effective work model that ensures that we follow the health and safety guidelines while producing all the work. For now, any producer planning to shoot in Mumbai will have to apply for permission from the MD, Film City and those shooting out of the city will have to take permission by writing a letter to the District Collector. Once undergoing this process they can begin work. This is a big leap for us and I thank our state government for this. ”
Over the past few weeks, CM has personally chaired video meetings with producers, broadcasters and trade bodies from the world of TV, and content creators from the world of Marathi cinema. A team appointed by him has also closely watched the standard operating procedures being formulated by various bodies working in the film and entertainment production businesses.
Principal Secretary for Cultural Affairs Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee also held a detailed meeting on video with representatives of the film business, discussed their concerns and assured them a smooth and expeditious resolution of their grievances earlier this week.
With the new GR, it may be safe to say that the shows will resume soon after Coronavirus Lockdown, and this time, will go further and further.
