CBFC Swaps Amitabh Bachchan-Rekha Poster for Amitabh Bachchan-Jaya Bachchan Poster in Ravi Teja’s Mr Bachchan

This Independence Day promises to be a cinematic treat for film enthusiasts, with a variety of films across different genres and languages hitting theaters. In Hindi cinema, audiences will witness a three-way showdown between Stree 2, Vedaa, and Khel Khel Mein. Meanwhile, in Telugu cinema, two major releases are set for August 15: Ravi Teja’s Mr. Bachchan and Double iSmart, featuring Ram Pothineni and Sanjay Dutt. In this article, Bollywood Hungama will focus on the modifications made to Mr. Bachchan by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
The CBFC granted the film a U/A certificate but required several changes before approval. A disclaimer stating that the film is fictional and does not resemble any real person or place was added at the beginning. Additionally, a scene lasting over two minutes featuring a young child smoking a beedi was censored, replacing the beedi with a pencil. A one-second shot of blood on the floor was also removed, and certain words and abusive language were muted or altered in four instances throughout the film.
Furthermore, the original poster featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha displayed during the rolling titles was replaced with a poster of Amitabh Bachchan alongside Jaya Bachchan, as per the CBFC’s directive.
After implementing these changes, the CBFC approved the film on August 13, just two days before its release. The film’s length, as noted on the censor certificate, is 158 minutes, translating to a runtime of 2 hours and 38 minutes.
Mr. Bachchan is an official remake of the 2018 Ajay Devgn film Raid. In this exciting new adaptation, Ravi Teja stars as the protagonist, while Jagapathi Babu takes on the role of the antagonist. The female lead is portrayed by Bhagyashri Borse, who was last seen in Chandu Champion alongside Kartik Aaryan. Directed by Harish Shankar, Mr. Bachchan is set to make a significant impact this Independence Day.
