CBFC Cuts Kissing Scene by 60% and Mutes ‘Guard’ in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari

With just two days remaining until the release of Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, advance bookings are in full swing. The film’s censor process was completed on time—six days ahead of the premiere. Here’s an exclusive look at the cuts mandated by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for this much-anticipated romcom.
Fans will be relieved to know that the CBFC approved the film with only two cuts. First, the word “guard” has been muted wherever it appears. This likely relates to a scene where Varun Dhawan’s character, Sunny, uses a derogatory word but then claims he said “guard” instead.
The second cut involves the film’s kissing scenes, which the Examining Committee reduced by 60%. Additionally, the makers were required to include an anti-alcohol static disclaimer. After these changes, Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari received a U/A 13+ certificate. The final runtime listed on the censor certificate is 135 minutes and 45 seconds—just over two hours and 15 minutes.
The film is set for a worldwide release on October 2 and features an ensemble cast including Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, Rohit Saraf, Maniesh Paul, Akshay Oberoi, and Abhinav Sharma.
Directed by Shashank Khaitan, the movie is produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions alongside Shashank’s Mentor Disciple Entertainment. The trailer launch took place on September 15 in Mumbai, with the entire cast present except for Sanya Malhotra. When asked about her absence, Varun Dhawan joked,
“Sanya is a very important part of the team. Sabse best baal unke hi hai! We have got a cut-out of Sanya so that we don’t miss her!”To the crowd’s amusement, a cutout of Sanya was brought on stage. Maniesh Paul added humorously,
“Pehli baar, Sanya sabse jaldi tayyar bhi hai kyunki baal, make up kuch nahin karna pada! As it is, woh aa gayi hai!”The film is now gearing up for its big release, promising a blend of romance and comedy that has fans eager to watch.
