CBFC Censors Obscene Hand Gesture in Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1; Hindi Version Advance Booking Starts September 26 Evening

With less than a week remaining for the release of one of the year’s biggest films, Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1, excitement is at an all-time high. The original Kantara (2022) was a sleeper hit with lasting popularity. The makers have completed the censor process on time, and Bollywood Hungama brings you an exclusive look at the cut list.
Fans will be pleased to know that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) passed the film without any visual cuts, leaving all action and violent scenes intact. None of the dialogues were muted or replaced either. The only alteration requested by the CBFC’s Examining Committee was the removal of an obscene hand gesture at the 45-minute mark, with the sequence duly replaced.
At the same time, a legal warning ticker stating, “Consumption and trafficking of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances is Prohibited in Law and Punishable with Rigorous Imprisonment and Fine,” was inserted during scenes of drug consumption at 52 and 53 minutes.
Following these changes, the film received a U/A 16+ certificate on September 22. The final runtime, as per the censor certificate, is 168 minutes and 53 seconds—2 hours, 48 minutes, and 53 seconds. The Hindi version of Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1 also cleared the CBFC yesterday.
